Here’s how it works
You choose a subject or local area that you have a passion for and/or knowledge of, provided it is not already taken. Or choose a local area or state (we still have several states available). We then do all the work to register, host, design and develop the framework of the website. We set up the advertising and all relative pages with keyword targeting and search engine optimization. Then you start adding the content. And we market and maintain the site.
Content Manager responsibilities
- Add and manage content for the site.
- Add new sub-category pages as needed.
- Manage incoming emails, inquiries, forums, blog comments, add link requests, and all user interaction.
- Manage blogs and online interactive content.
Smart Directories responsibilities
- Register and manage Domain Name
- Set up Domain on Hosting Server
- Design and Develop the framework of the website
- Maintain all design and server updates.
- Set up all Ad Groups and advertising sections on the site.
- Keyword and Search Engine Optimization
- Provide ongoing Online Marketing
- Provide customer service and training to our Content Managers
Shared Income: How your income share is calculated
Once a website is built there are key personnel that are needed to manage and maintain the website…. the Shared Income plan is designed to provide a percentage of the advertising income to all personnel who participate in design, maintenance and upkeep of the website. This is the “Shared Income”.
We set up Advertising Groups that contain Google Adsense ads (hereafter “Ad Groups”) on our directories. We have the expertise to know which ads get the best clicks and we keep up with the trends for ad placement and ad types that provide the most clicks for the highest income. The goal of our pages is to provide information for the visitor and to offer the Ad Groups as additional links for the visitor. Note that these advertising Groups are subject to change.
Note: Our theory is not to overwhelm the visitors with advertising only, but to actually have a site that is worth their visit so we will never give up the integrity of the site for bigger $$$’s like so many sites out on the web now do. We believe the future is with sites like ours that actually have something to offer and are not just trying to be quick money makers. Those types of sites never become extremely popular or grow for your future because they have no substance.
We provide our content management team reports of all of the clicks and income from the Ad Groups ads for each site. We allow all personnel to view all sites stats for encouragement and team building. Joining our team means joining a community of like-minded people who are there to help you and give advise. The more we help each other, the more you help yourself. Each smart directory is connected by a link page on each site. The more one directory grows, the higher value the links on that site grows, giving higher rankings in the search engines for all. We also offer quarterly bonuses for highest income producing and for fastest growing sites.
The Shared Income from the Ad Groups Earnings is divided between the Content Manager and the Smart Directories development and administration team.
Because we understand that the content of the website is vitally important, the content manager of a site will receive 30% of the Shared Income from the actual earnings from the Ad Groups for their website. This is a higher amount than you will find for any other content editor position. For a complete breakdown of the Shared Income, click here.
Note: the shared income is taken only from the Ad Groups advertisers (currently Google Adsense) and does not include individual advertisement or other revenue that is generated from the site. There may be additional ads placed on certain pages for individual advertisers or affiliates or to cross advertise other Smart Directories or Partners. These ads or any other ads that are not listed in the Ad Groups above are not included in the shared income.
Content Managers are not permitted to place their own ads within the site or in the content of an article without the approval of Smart Directories.
When do you get paid?
We receive earnings from our Ad Groups approximately 30 days after the month or time period of the advertisement earnings. As soon as we receive the payment, we send the payments to our team members within 10 business days. (Example: We receive ad earnings for the month of March on April 30th. We send payment within 10 days on or before May 10th. )

How can the partnership be terminated?
The partnership can be terminated by either the Content Manager or the SmartDirectories Manager.
The Content Manager can chose to end the agreement at any time and for any reason.
Being a part of the SmartDirectories team is a privilege and the SmartDirectories Manager can terminate the agreement based on any of the following reasons:
If the Content Manager…
- does not follow the guidelines for the types of information and sites to be added (ie no weapons, drugs, sex)
- does not perform any updates or add any content for a period of 6 months or longer.
- contacts any of the advertisers or clicks on any of the ads. We are under agreement with our Ad Group Businesses to not click on any of our own ads. When you sign the agreement with us, your are obligated to abide by the same terms.
- places their own ads into content of the site.
- breaks any of the terms in the Partner Agreement.
If the agreement is terminated for any reason based on the terms above or terms broken by the agreement, Smart Directorieswill keep ownership of the directory and the Content Manager gives up all rights to any content on the site and may not duplicate the content for use on another website. Smart Directories will pay the Content Manager their % of the shared earnings from the Ad Groups for 3 additional months after termination. All future earnings is forfeited by the Content Manager. The Content Manager can only be re-instated if no other manager has taken their place as Content Manager for that directory.
